Ironically, my wife and I vacationed in Palm Springs this year so this commercial struck a special chord with me. But the BMW team followed a tried and true formula; celebrities=check, special effects=check, feature product being used by said celebrities in a relatable fashion=check. Zeus (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Hera (Salma Hayek) retiring in Palm Springs and using electricity to power their lives and change the stop lights to green. It’s so tried and true, it’s normally boring. However Salma and Arnold bring so much charisma to the spot it carries it over to “Oookay!” and a very nominal offering for a Super Bowl commercial.
